IWB Basel plant – installation work for piping

13.12.2024

For the work to be carried out on the project in Basel, all units and systems were shut down for 72 hours in order to perform installation activities on the existing piping. MARTIN AG had been commissioned with replacing a DN500 low-pressure header and several fittings – among these three with a diameter of DN350, one DN250 fitting, and two fittings each in size DN65 and DN40.

The conditions were anything but simple: Space restrictions and challenging weather conditions when welding outdoors required an installation concept especially discussed and agreed upon with the customer.

A particular challenge in order to complete work on time and to ensure readiness for operation was the installation of the approx. 1,500 kg and 12 metre long DN500 manifold upstream of the air-cooled condenser. MARTIN AG in Matzingen designed and largely prefabricated the manifold.

We are delighted to have completed the work together with the IWB team within the scheduled timeframe and with the highest quality.
